<SOLVED> Sierra MC8305 3G modem not detected (Drivers)

Post by halouim » Fri Mar 09, 2012 11:19 am

Hi all,
I'm a new user with few knowledge on linux and I have some trouble making my 3G device (sierra wireless MC8305) working :(
when runing lsusb , I can find my device : Bus 002 Device 008: ID 1199:9011 Sierra Wireless, Inc. but it isn't seen as a mobile broadband device (blank list when adding a new mobile broadband connection in the network connection)
If it can help, this is what I have when runing :
dmesg | grep tty
[ 0.000000] console [tty0] enabled
[ 0.884206] serial8250: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
[ 1.139878] 00:0a: ttyS0 at I/O 0x3f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A
PS: I'm using Mint 12
Thank in advance for your help

I've finally find the solution
http://mycusthelp.net/SIERRAWIRELESS/_c ... 68ICTVCRKM
As my modem usb id (1199:9011) wasn't listed in the sierra.c , I add it manually and follow the rest of instructions.
Hope this post can help other linux users 8)
