Hangs on installation... (SOLVED)
LMDE2 Betsy - Cinnamon
Have tried to install on four separate occasions, without success.
Computer hangs when pressing Forward icon after completing account information. Eventually dialogue asking whether I wish to Wait or Force Quit.
Have tried to install from shortcut icon on Desktop and from choosing the icon in the Menu. Both give the same result.
Is anyone else having this problem. If so, have you managed to overcome it, please?

Re: Hangs on installation...
Could you please launch the installer from a terminal and post the error message?

Yes, run it from the terminal and post the whole output here:

Re: Hangs on installation...
That doesn't look like the complete output. The installer shows some other info (timezone, partitions, etc.) in the terminal as you proceed.
Re: Hangs on installation...
Again, thank you for a prompt response.Monsta wrote:That doesn't look like the complete output. The installer shows some other info (timezone, partitions, etc.) in the terminal as you proceed.
After entering the command in the terminal, the installer "Languager" window appears. This time I proceeded with the installation with the terminal window still open and you will see the additional output. Everything went well - through the Language, Timezone and Keyboard windows but halted on the User info window. As soon as I clicked on Forward the computer froze.
The full output from the command is given below.

Note: When I click to close the terminal window a dialogue appears which informs me a process is still running.
I cannot close the installation window and have to resort to a Ctrl+Alt+Delete to restart.

Re: Hangs on installation...
Oddly enough, I managed to overcome this problem by stopping the installer in terminal via Ctrl+C... and then it magically unfroze and continued to the disk selection screen. See for yourself:
However, methinks this issue is too critical. Imagine a stable release that cannot be installed without an inspired guess about the terminal... please, would you be so kind to fix this bug and update the installer ISO?

Re: Hangs on installation...
Hi!
It certainly was an inspired guess
I did the same with the same result and have taken a risk and am installing it on my second computer at this very moment. I'll report any problems.
I agree with you, though, that this problem should be sorted out,
Edit: I won't marked this "Solved" at present but wait until the installation is finished and I've had time to see whether any issues arise.

Re: Hangs on installation...
I was able to normally run live and install the LMDE 2 MATE 64-bit version on my Lenovo Thinkpad T61. However, the 32-bit version has problems and would not even run live OK or install correctly. In the live mode, it will only run in compatibility mode. If you try to run it live normally it will hang up on a black screen. I was able to install it but then it only runs in recovery mode. There are serious problems with this 32-bit version which need to be addressed. I have never had problems this serious with Linux Mint since I started using it with LM 12 3-1/2 years ago. All versions have run out of the box until now. I hope this problem gets back to Clem and his team.
Re: Hangs on installation...
I did not encountered this problem with the installer when I tested the iso.
There has to be something specific that triggers it!

I still can't reproduce the issue and don't know what might be causing it, so I'll have to ask you for an experiment.
I see you have two physical HDDs. If you don't mind and have some time to do it, disconnect one of them (I mean, unplug both power and data cables) and run the installer again. No need to actually install Betsy, just check if the installer still freezes at the account screen or proceeds to the partitions screen.
Then connect that HDD back and disconnect the other one, and do the same check again.

Is this solving your problem?
Oddly enough, I managed to overcome this problem by stopping the installer in terminal via Ctrl+C... and then it magically unfroze and continued to the disk selection screen.
