repair keyboard to aumix links

Post by oliverjames »

I've installed the final release of Mint XFCE. But I notice that shortly after booting up I lost the ability to change volume and mute the sound using the keyboard multimedia controls. Can anyone suggest how I can fix this?

At first I did not see that you were asking about the multimedia keys
Control Center > Keyboard shortcuts is the location in Gnome and I think it's (about) the same in Mint XFCE
Then mark the option you want to use and pres the key you want to use
I have not had the time to install the latest xfce edition yet.....

Try turning on 'Audio settings management' and 'Hotkeys management' in Menu> System> Services.

The keyboard shortcuts are located in the second tab of Menu> Settings> Keyboard Settings.

Husse, when I try as you suggest the keyboard options have default setting in XFCE linking aumixer to XF86audio. See screenshot attached. Similar screenshot for Gnome.

Zaheermk, I'm almost certain that audio settings management was turned off in XFCE when system installed and in this config the media keys controlled the sound. Somehow this has now broken. It is certainly turned off in Gnome and all works perfectly.

It's not a big problem but I'm curious to know what caused the change.

Solved by installing aumix to the XFCE installation.
