Problem with update manager

Hi all I just switched from windows 8.1 to Linux mint. I am using Linux Mint 17.1 Cinammon 64-bit version.

I switched a week ago and so far from just browsing the forums and reading tips online. I was able to understand how Linux mint works and how to use it but I have run into an error when it comes to checking for updates. Every time It checks for updates I get this message. Could not download all repository indexes along with this.

Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead.

I looked for fixes using the forum but couldn't find a post with a fix. Anyway I did find a post that told you how to check your repository indexes. So I entered the command in the terminal and got this list of repository files.

Raring? How on earth did you get software sources of the long dead Ubuntu 13.04 Raring Ringtail in your sources list?

And watch out with PPA's. The quality of your Mint depends largely on the quality of your software sources. Stick to the default official software sources....

There is a sources list file which references an outdated Ubuntu version with the nickname of "raring".
The file in question is this one: /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ia32-libs-raring.list
And the offending line is this one:

deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ raring main restricted universe multiverse

Either use Linux Mint Software Sources and disable this entry.
Or remove the whole file, because it holds exactly this incorrect line and nothing else. So there is no need to keep the file.
This is the terminal command which will delete the file:

sudo rm /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ia32-libs-raring.list

I have no idea how that happened in all honesty. I haven't used linux before so shouldn't have something from an old system. Is there anyway to fix it so that it's updated to the correct version?

For the ppa read that they can be dangerous. only one should be for the online game ryzom. That's the only one I have entered.
