x64 Mint: How to update and ad apps ?????

Urgent Need to know from WHERE to add apps and update

Please people, urgent need to know hows the stuff for updates and adding apps.
Do 32 bit apps work?,
Which repositories should we use?
Would be cool to have a complete list of repositories: free, non free, restricted, ubuntu, etc.
What tool should we use to update? synaptic? mint update only?
Are all the apps on Software Portal compatible with RC1 X64 ???
Where can we get compatible apps? I need audio production and edition apps

I ask this because I did a first install (In Sun Virtual Box) and after doing mint update plus package manager update my system went crazy, menu items didnt show, etc. As I did all together I dont know who the culprit was.... ( )

Synaptic (apt-get) and mintUpdate works as in main
I think 32 bit apps work but how well is different with different CPUs
AMD generally does a better job than Intel 64 bits is even named AMD64.

OK! Thanks, will be installing x64 later this night in VBox to try!!!
BTW: I am an AMD guy , but till now I havnt had any problems with about 8 pc´s on which I´ve installed Mint.
FYI: I´ve tried a lot of distributions, ubuntu, mandriva, slax, opensolaris (i know, I know ) and to date Mint is the most user friendly and compatible distro Ive found. (at least for us long time win*$#" users ).
Now my problem is finding productivity apps, mainly for normal office & home use, and specialized for audio editing and production. there ARE some win apps that dont have a linux equivalent, at least not as polished (JRiver Media Center for example) so I´ll be trying Wine with mint.
