Microsoft Word not importing PDF

Post by renzor »

So, I've gotten MS Word 2010 to run in Wine successfully. But a problem I'm facing is whenever I try importing/opening a PDF, I get weird symbols to be imported (unlike running it in Windows where it is successfully imported).

Anyone know how to properly open a PDF in Word?

the Windows System tends to lock things down, more than a Linux system does,
& probably to force you to Buy even more Software than you really wish to. ..

so, you have to open the PDF in some reader, which these days is probably *not* from Adobe,
and depending on the PDFs security permissions, you can then copy it's contents
directly into your Word Processor.

it's not an ideal method, but then neither is using the Windows Operating System.
- if that is what you have to use, then your choices can be rather limited.

MS Word may be able to directly import a PDF into itself,
when run under it's native O/S, but it never could do that with any older Word versions,
and that could be a recent feature, but either way,
you will have issues in getting it to work under the ./wine environment.
