I'm using Linux Mint 5 dual-booted with windows Vista.
I set up my POP email in Thunderbird today. After that, I noted that the shift key stopped working; I noted this when attempting to make the first letter of a sentence a capital letter. Noting the strange behavior, I decided to restart my laptop (HP Pavilion dv6000) and try the shift-key in Vista. Yep! It worked fine.
Anyone has any suggestions as to why the shift key stopped working all of a sudden. FYI - I downloaded the Java6 updates that were available today. I did this before I notice this particular key wasn't working. Is there any connection, you might ask? I don't know!

Re: Shift-key STOPPED working
I solved this problem. It appears I had to turn off Compiz and restart it. This corrected the shift key problem.
