I managed the language problem uninstalling firefox-locale-fi package and installing the language addon from mozilla´s site.

Hi everybody,

I just wanted to let you know we're working on this right now and on nothing else until this is resolved.

As xenopeek explained, the level 5 is there temporarily to hold the update for most users until the new build is ready.

In terms of timing, we were hoping to solve this today. It's taking more time than anticipated but we're confident we'll get things done before the week-end.

I'm sorry about the confusion and I'd like to thank you all for your patience.

When I start Firefox after booting of Linux Mint 17.3 Xfce, I get a message that Firefox has not been set as a default browser and I have to confirm this each time I start Firefox after booting. What can I do to resolve this problem?

Likely UnChecked, So enable it.

Report the results.

Thank you.

Just wait for version 41.0+linuxmint2 (it's coming today). The update level in the Update Manager will also go back to normal.

Hi,

Version 41.0+linuxmint2 is now available and should address all the aforementioned issues.

The update level for Firefox was set back to its default value.

I'd like to apologize for the confusion and inconvenience and thank everyone for their patience.

Yes, it's here, and back to nr. 2. You need to update the updater first but then you can install Firefox.

Hi Clem,

if you are providing Firefox yourself would you consider updating vlc too? Since vlc is very popular and current version is a bit old and doesn't play hevc unless we use PPAs. I know it's off-topic but would appreciate your answer. :)

Thanks for doing this, Clem.

Just one tiny improvement - the Linux Mint Firefox packages currently reset my default browser to Firefox when installed. It'd be great if future ones didn't do this (happened with both the first version you did and the current one). It's not a huge problem so don't worry about it too much.

And again thanks :)

Thank you. Has Firefox messed up the search combo-box recently? Editing text in there is impossible at times, not enough previous searches are shown from history, no scrollbar. Is that something that you can tweak?

Looks like I've found the reason for the traffic multiplication on my mirror server…

Currently my mirror server is under heavy load with nearly 80 Mbit/s bandwidth usage. Regularly it's only at 2-5 Mbit/s!

As far as I can tell this thread here does not apply to Mint 13.
Mint 13 (based on Ubuntu 12.04) keeps on receiving the Firefox from the Ubuntu software repositories.
At least my Mint 13 systems have done so.

Firefix 41 needs gcc 4.8.4. We'd first have to backport that gcc version to the Linux Mint 13 build server. I can't recall if there are plans for that. LMDE 2 should shortly get the new Firefox 41 build also.

I'm on LM 13 and have quite recently received the update to FF 41. The installed gcc on my system is 4.6. Could you pleas elaborate on your above stated requirement which oddly don't seem to correspond to my system.

Code: Select all

~ $ inxi -Sx
System: Host: NB-nc8430 Kernel: 3.2.0-68-generic-pae i686 (32 bit, gcc: 4.6.3) Desktop: N/A Distro: Linux Mint 13 Maya
~ $ dpkg --list firefox* | grep "^ii"
ii firefox 41.0+build3-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 Safe and easy web browser from Mozilla
ii firefox-gnome-support 22.0+build2-0ubuntu0.12.04.2 Safe and easy web browser from Mozilla - GNOME support
ii firefox-locale-en 41.0+build3-0ubuntu0.12.04.1 English language pack for Firefox
[PS.] No idea why inxi -Sx doesn't list my desktop. DE is Mate

You are using Firefox 41 built by Ubuntu. Linux Mint hasn't yet built Firefox 41 for Linux Mint 13.

Ok, and what would be the difference between the Ubuntu built and the Linux Mint built FF 41?
