Hello,

Vaio's and Mint like eachother much. The only thing that can be a mess is the Wifi card with the Elyssa release.
Kind regards,

Hi, I have had my Vaio FW11E for a while now.

Today, I installed Mint using the guide from Youtube, its a 4 part video series, but is very detailed.
Basically he shows you how to Triple-Boot XP, Vista and Ubuntu Linux.

Part 1: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=M3t8Js_ST ... re=related
Part 2: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=IiQi7cFV4Qk&feature=user
Part 3: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=PEadYq63jjE&feature=user
Part 4: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=Bu-52xgQJR0&feature=user

I just following his guide and it worked. New to Linux here.;)

Hope this helps.

I wouldn't buy a Sony Vaio.

I have one of their machines sitting in a cupboard right now, after 12 months I had the following faults:

1) Battery life reduced to thirty minutes

2) Letters rubbing off the keyboard.

3) DVD drive operation very intermittent, it reads one disk in five.

4) Standby never worked due to the BIOS, hibernate works fine.

5) Coating on the screen started to rub off.

6) Impossible to use during summer as the CPU temperature gets to 70C then it shuts down, just Google for Vaio Overheating and see what comes up.

7) Broken right mouse button.

Add to that the terrible support from Sony "you've installed Linux and this voids your warranty" and it means I'll never buy another Sony product again. I now have a Lenevo and I'm a happy bunny.
