?? This is a complete misunderstanding - the GeForce8200 is a graphics chip for on board video with nvidia cpus
This means that there is unfortunately not much meaningful info in your post...

Yes it's only a partial identification
I suppose you mean ACPI not APCI
Try to edit menu.lst to turn off acpi

Code: Select all

gksu gedit /bot/grub/menu.lst
Find the line that looks something like this
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-16-generic root=/dev/sda2 ro quiet splash
You may have something else than sda2
Edit it to look something like this
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-16-generic root=/dev/sda2 ro acpi=off quiet splash
Reboot

"driver 'sd'
is probably another name for the driver for sata disks and a part of the kernel
