Re: Saying NO to forced W10---the Microsoft way
using GWX Control Panel seems to be the suggested way:
http://ultimateoutsider.com/downloads/G ... lSetup.exe
"This is a free tool that can remove and disable the 'Get Windows 10' notification area icon on Windows 7 and Windows 8. Recent versions can also disable 'Upgrade to Windows 10' behavior in the Windows Update control panel and do much more. See the user guide at the Ultimate Outsider blog. You can still download GWX Control Panel as a standalone executable if you don't like installers".

Just wait for July then upgrades will stops by itself. What after? I suggest you will go to shop and purchase W10 (sooner or later). But this time for your own money. But for how long?

Well, Windows 7 is supported 'till 2020, so there's absolutely no need to "upgrade" to Win 10 any time soon. In case Microsoft's privacy policy regarding Win 10 is still the same at that point, then I guess it's time to say goodbye to dual boot and run only Linux. The Windows applications I want/need to run are not worth the price of completely giving up your privacy.BigEasy wrote:Just wait for July then upgrades will stops by itself. What after? I seriously doubt that Microsoft will just stop pushing Win 10 after July/August 2016. There will be something else. In addition to the [a lot more] information control they have with Windows 10 [which brings them more money now due to contracts] , they will want to make more money by different methods. I think that they will either leave it free upgrade for longer and will be even more pushy than they are now OR they will devepol something else to push or something else to make money from (e.g. making Windows 10 subscription based as Office 365 is)BigEasy wrote:Just wait for July then upgrades will stops by itself. I have a feeling they will extend the free upgrade period for another year come July.
