Hi Francis! Welcome. I'm in the Netherlands, so you could say that we are neighbours. :)
From your other posting, I get the impression that you've used a different distro before... which one was it?

Welcome to the Mint family forums

I am UK-based. Well retired and am now using leasure time to develop my computating skills (?) after a lifetime in electronics. Planning an exit from Windows 7 Prof. and with the intention to return to Linux. I ran a few versions of Ubuntu some years ago but finally gave up when a laptop went beserk. Now running a lenovo E535 laptop with enough space to instal one of the current Mints with a view to invest in a tower of a similar capacity (perhaps another lenovo machine) so that I have a belt & braces if one or other get indigestion.

I will follow useful topics here to assist when I inevitably get into a knot.

Welcome to Linux Mint, and the Mint forum. FYI, in the Language section at the bottom of the forum page is a German section, which may be helpful to you.
