I'm running Mint 17.3 Mate 64bit on a HP AIO PC and I have been experiencing frequent Firefox crashes/freezes
Today I downloaded a Firefox update but the problem persists
Checking Update Manager tells me I'm using kernel 3.19.0-32 if that helps
Any solutions for this problem?

Suggestion,
Go into your Firefox preferences and disable ALL of your add-ons. Try it. Then restart your add-ons one at a time, testing each time, until you come up with the culprit.

Re: Mint 17.3 MATE - Firefox keeps on crashing/freezing
It could be the one or other extension, but also something else in your FF-profile.
To find this out do the following:
Close FF.
Open your file-manager and make hidden files visible (press ctrl-h).
Rename the folder .mozilla to .mozilla.bck
Start FF, this will create automatically a new FF-profile.
Check.
To get back to your old profile:
Close FF.
Delete the new folder .mozilla
Rename the folder .mozila.bck back to .mozilla
Start FF. Done.

"Firefox preferences and disable ALL of your add-ons"
I went to Preferences but I didn't see any "add-ons" options or Tab?

"Open your file-manager and make hidden files visible (press ctrl-h).
Rename the folder .mozilla to .mozilla.bck"
OK I have done this and then imported my bookmarks saved in a Folder, so I will see how this now behaves
Thanks Guys for your help

Re: Mint 17.3 MATE - Firefox keeps on crashing/freezing
After using Firefox a couple time and after I had closed it, I got another pop-up message saying Firefox has crashed. I have been getting those as well as the freezes
So getting a new profile has not made any difference

Re: Mint 17.3 MATE - Firefox keeps on crashing/freezing
Sorry, the Add-ons icon is right next to the Preferences icon.

Create a new user account in your Mint for testing.

"Add-ons icon is right next to the Preferences icon."
Thanks, clicking on this icon & then on tabs, L/side column:
"Extensions" - "You don't have any add-ons of this type installed"
"Plugins" - the only active ones are:
* OpenH264 Video Codec
* Shockwave Flash 18.0 r0 (updated 3/11/15
* Shockwave Flash 11.2 r202 (updated 5/4/16
Why would there be two Shockwave add-ons? Could this be causing a conflict?
Thanks again for the help
