Hello,
I'm trying to record a live audio stream, i.e. me speaking. The only input device I have is a webcam with built-in microphone, which works great with Skype — I have no problems there, with either sound or video. However when I run Audacity, I've chosen it as my audio input device in preferences (and I've verified that the device number is correct, so Audacity is detecting the right device attached to the computer) but every time I click on record I get an error message saying "Error while connecting to device. Check settings, etc.".
Would anyone have any ideas about anything I could do to get it working, or are there any other apps in the repository that I could use for this purpose?
Thank you for any help.

How is the webcam connected?
Which hardware? Run lspci and probably lsusb (if connected via USB) and post here
Exactly which Mint do you use?
