Re: Dell M5010
What does the Menu > Settings > Mouse & Trackpad program tell you ? Can you see both Mouse and Trackpad with the drop down list along the top ?
Re: Dell M5010
We'll need to know the trackpad model in your laptop to help you out.
Could you open "Terminal" in the menu, type the following command and press Enter:
Then please post the output here.

Re: Dell M5010
That is quite surprising, no touchpad seen at all. I can't find any information on this issue on the web either.
Did the touchpad work in Windows?
Does it help to use the touchpad on-off button, which is probably a key combination with Fn?
These may sound like stupid questions, but I'm out of ideas at this moment.

Re: Dell M5010
Could you please run:
then attach the dmesg.txt file from your home directory when you reply here?
You can find Attachments as a tab under the save/preview/submit buttons.
Code: Select all
dmesg > dmesg.txt

Re: Dell M5010
Your response is unclear. Are you looking for: a place to run the command, or the dmesg.txt file, or the attachments of the forum?
You can run the command in the terminal, which you can open from the Menu. There you can type the command (the green text I just gave) and press Enter.
Then you can open your home folder for instance by using the Home icon on your desktop, it will now contain a dmesg.txt file. It will be a long file, that is why I wanted you to use forum attachments to post it here (rather than copy/pasting its content).

Re: Dell M5010
neverwork@Neverwork ~ $ dmesg > dmesg.txt
neverwork@Neverwork ~ $ dsmesg
No command 'dsmesg' found, did you mean:
Command 'dmesg' from package 'util-linux' (main)
dsmesg: command not found
neverwork@Neverwork ~ $
Also sound not working
You think i should just format and install new version of mint?

Code: Select all
neverwork@Neverwork ~ $ dmesg > dmesg.txt
Please don't format immediately - before you do that, boot the Mint DVD/USB to see if the issue also happens there. If it does, reinstalling probably doesn't help.
