Hi! I'm a new user :)

Post by YoloSnake »

Hello, I'm new to the Linux Community. I dualboot-ed my PC with Win 8.1 and Mint 18.
Still trying to set up the boot menu to come up automatically at startup without the need to choose the boot device manually. Still trying to figure out how to get rid of sound pops in my headphones before a sound is played on the system (a very loud pop before the Log In sound), also trying to find a reason the sound is mono-ish and without too much low frequencies compared to the sound in Windows with Realtek HD drivers.

Can't find the best font for my Window Titles, they all look weird on that grey background with something that looks like a white outline.
Also I have yet sooo much to learn about how to install apps, drivers etc. this is very much different from Windows.

Even though I spend a lot of time just finding my way around, Linux makes me feel real happy when I finally get something right :)

welcome to the forum
:D

even though you got the dual_boot working,
still have a look at this Tutorial:
viewtopic.php?f=42&t=163126

you will find things are different in a Linux System,
& stuff that you could do with Windows, & now you can't do that thing.

Hi YoloSnake,

Welcome aboard. I see you kept Win8.1-means you didn't take the bait.
I predict you will come to grips with Linux quickly.

Welcome aboard, YoloSnake! Ask in the appropriate forum section for each of the problems you have noted, and you will almost certainly be given the help and answers you need.

There is a great tutorial on installing applications here:

Welcome to the Mint family forums

most problems already have a fix,
