How do you connect from windows to your office pc?

I connect into my office using gotomypc which will work with the client being Linux and the server on Windows but not the other way round.

Yes.
As to the how, you will have to expand on what you mean by "connect to the server", and perhaps hint as to what exactly it is that you want to "work" on.

There is an initial set up for XP

Start > all programmes> Accessories> connection>
New Connection Wizard> Connect to network at my Workplace
Virtual Network Connection> Assign Name> Do not dial initial connection
Host Name >: IP address > Enter VPN iP provided > ass shortcut to the connection to my desktop
Enter user Name Provided for examample Node -03A > enter pasword provided for example clemkonan
Save this user name and password > Me only > Connect

To log on from the desktop icon

Start > all programmes> accessories> Communication> remote desktop connection
Server or IP address> connect > user name > password

have a VPN address and a server IP address

Hope this helps

Thanks
