Forum style for users with vision impairment?
A couple of users have asked for a dark (or high-contrast) style to help with vision impairment. I don't have enough feedback on that yet.
We could consider adding a dark style to the forum. I've looked through the available styles for our forum version and there these 3 that are dark that you can test out live:
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/style/black/demo/3.1
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/style/digi/demo/3.1
https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/styl ... n/demo/3.1
A few more can be seen here: https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/styl ... ark-17/3.1
Can you have a look at them and give some feedback how well or not these would help with your visual impairment?

Re: Any plans to bring back the "Minty Green" theme to this forum?
I've got bad eyes and I really like that green and black one.

I could really use the Green back. Eyes don't work so good at 75. I just tried the wayback machine link,

Lucid Lime is definitely the best-suited theme for Mint -- don't forget to add support for widescreen. Personally I would branch out of phpbb and maybe explore IPS, check out one of my personal fav's from the LTT forum (at the bottom, click theme -> night theme.)
Re: Forum style for users with vision impairment?
I vote for Lucid Lime or Digi.

WOW Xenopeek! that 1st black demo is like watermelon on the tongue, beautiful eye easement. i would like to see a regular thread using it. maybe the code boxes could be a gentle yellow or something. SUPERB black demo at 1st glance.xenopeek wrote:A couple of users have asked for a dark (or high-contrast) style to help with vision impairment. I don't have enough feedback on that yet.

Re: Forum style for users with vision impairment?
I am not visually impaired, but my eyes have grown old with me and not all possible themes are well suited for me.
Out of this reason I stay with the prosilver theme. I made a test with the new green theme and found, that it is hard for me to distinguish red and not red icons - most important for me to see the threads in the list with unread posts. So I jumped after a short test back to the blue prosilver.
Although dark themes - for the forum or inside of Mint - give me problems. So regarding the main question in this thread: I don't see anything, that works better for me than the blue prosilver.

+1. Not visually impaired, but it's super easy on the eyes and looks really professional. Would be terrific to have as an option.Try'n 2 Learn wrote:xenopeek wrote:WOW Xenopeek! that 1st black demo is like watermelon on the tongue, beautiful eye easement. i would like to see a regular thread using it. maybe the code boxes could be a gentle yellow or something. i get the whole viewpoint on "tradition" & "mint theme stuff". but my mind says, let that notion be the "options"MintBean wrote:+1. where it is at, is an inviting, soothing experience, visually, while you digest the literature. yeah, that black demo just begs default status. a member, or onlooker drops by, does not even have to trouble themselves logging-in. it is just straight-away a pleasant viewing experience. thats how you grab your members, no-hassle approach.
visually impaired, i've got font-size trouble. let me tell you, straining ones eyes to see tiny fonts against a vibrant white backdrop is just cruel. i could see the black demo's grey fonts toned-up just a shade or 2 brighter, and most certainly larger. but, Xeno says the global font-size button is no longer offered. i just does not figure, for the most part, we are reading here right?
Re: Forum style for users with vision impairment?
I'm visually impaired and the green on black theme was by far the best.
Re: Forum style for users with vision impairment?
Black on green is best for me. Not so with black on white.
