Return of the minty green forum style!

For long time members and guests the minty green forum style will be a return to a familiar sight. Till early this year it was the default for new members and guests. It stopped working after an upgrade to a major new forum version and it needed to be converted before it could be used again. Till now we only had the standard blueish "prosilver" forum style available.

Last month work was undertaken to convert the forum style and from today the minty green forum style is again the default for new members and guests! As a one time action I've also made it the default for all already registered members.

Some of you may prefer the blueish "prosilver" forum style or may have a widescreen monitor and don't want the forum to span the entire width of your screen. The following forum styles are available to choose from on the User Control Panel (direct link ucp.php?i=165, change the "My board style" field):

minty — limits the screen width that will be used
minty widescreen — the default style; entire screen width will be used
prosilver lm — the bluesh style; limits the screen width that will be used

Credits: zohall initiated the conversion; I reworked the conversion to make it easier to maintain in the future and did debugging and fixing of issues found; Moem edited button images to make them green instead of blue. A lot of members helped test it and offered their opinions and constructive feedback. You all have Linux Mint's warmest thanks for your time and efforts!

Now let's get back to testing the Linux Mint 18.1 betas or eagerly anticipating their final release

it looks better than plain generic white and blue actually

If you were confused: we restored the original default style to work with the new forum version. This isn't a new style but it is an old familiar to long time Linux Mint users (snapshot from over 6 years ago shows the same style https://web.archive.org/web/20100421063 ... m.php?f=29). You can switch to prosilver as indicated if you prefer the blueish style. Also prosilver is a old familiar to phpBB forum users

And here I thought it was a bug on my computer. Not crazy about the green theme, looking forward to getting back to blue. No offence.....

Not a long time user, but I've been here long enough to feel nostalgic about this.

My only problem is that this also brings back memories about the forum's security breach. Given enough time, it'll wear out.

Fair enough, I am not such myself. And, no, I quite prefer green to blue and find the change to be welcome. It's just that pink-on-green thing that brings it down a bit again... or well, maybe it is more the purple (?) on pink-on-green thing. Sure, I'll live with it, but let's be frank: it is of course deeply horrible

While logged in today I couldn't put my finger on it but I felt strangely at home ..and now I know why. After all, green is my favorite color.

I know there were some who had been complaining, and to tell the truth, I hadn't really cared that much myself.

However, now that I'm seeing it, WOW! Well done!
