Can't boot installed system - kernel panic - not syncing OK

Post by nivosh »

Hello.

downloaded mint 6 main E.
checked md5 and burned on low speed.

installed the system on sdb6 and home at sdb7.
i have opensuse 11 with grub installed so i used opensuse grub and added
the mint boot command from the mint /boot/grub/menu.lst commands.

pushed the mint 6 boot line and got an kernel panic message.
here is the short message: kernal panic - not syncing : vfs: unable to mount root fs on unknown - block (0,0)

i really like to give mint a chance...

please help

It should work but I think you've got yourself a UUID problem
Solution and explanation in one of these two wikis (or both)
http://www.linuxmint.com/wiki/index.php ... annot_boot
http://www.linuxmint.com/wiki/index.php ... _a_problem
To be sure - compare the two menu.lst so there is not "oddity" in the one you use
