NVIDIA X Server Settings does not see PRIME Profiles
Why in Linux Mint 18.1 NVIDIA X Server Settings does not see PRIME Profiles?
I cant switch between NVIDIA and intel mode!
In LM 18 such a problem in my laptop was absent.

Re: NVIDIA X Server Settings does not see PRIME Profiles
An empty NVIDIA X Server Settings indicates there was a problem with the Nvidia driver installation. Use these commands in the Terminal and post the output:
Code: Select all
1. dpkg -l | grep -i nvidia
2. xed /var/log/gpu-manager.log
3. dmesg | egrep -i "bbswitch|nvidia"
4. ls /etc/modprobe.d
5. ls /etc/X11
6. ls /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/drivers/char/drm/
7. inxi -Fxz

file you posted showed the Nvidia driver was now enabled. It looks like you made the switch from the Intel GPU to the Nvidia GPU. What did you do?Or perhaps you never rebooted after installing the Nvidia driver?
Re: NVIDIA X Server Settings does not see PRIME Profiles
I dont no! After I had found absence of Prime Profiles I had added ppa:graphics-drivers/ppa and installed new Nvidia driver then rebooted. But it hadn't helped.
Then I had installed all the packages with name "Prime" and "Bumblbee" in the Synaptic and it too hadnt helped.
After I had carried out all your instructions and rebooted. Prime Profiles has appeared.

Re: NVIDIA X Server Settings does not see PRIME Profiles
Roblm? Still here? Or anyone as good as him...
Hi! I'm desperate. I definitely have the same problem of driver but since I am a newbee and I don't want to break everything (once a again).
May I post here the answers of the commands? (basically a lot of points in common but I want to be sure that I have to do the same procedure....)
Thanks anyone!

@Oirs
Your card is a 740M. I believe the 700 series falls under legacy support now. You may need to install the legacy 304 drivers from the driver manager.
