I am trying to install Mint 6 on a laptop currently running Linspire 5.1.427. The install freezes at one point every time. I have to remove the battery to power down the PC. Tried a few times but no joy. The DVD seems to stop. No indication of DVD turning or reading.
Freeze point.

Re: Mint 6 laptop install freezes
Lexon,
Have you tried using "compatibility mode" yet? When the live CD is booting, press any key. In the pop-up menu, choose "compatibility mode," and everything should load up from that point. If you notice my hardware specs in the signature, you will see similarities to what you have.
On a side note, when booting the 64-bit live CD, I do not have any problems. It is only with the 32-bit Live CD that I must use "compatibility mode." Maybe this will help you get up and running. Good luck.
