I can't boot except in root [SOLVED}

With the -nosplash option

and I think that or something else has messed up my start screen because I can only startx from root from text line while rebooting.

Is what is broken called "upstart"?

--nospash is xscreensaver setting. It has nothing to do with booting.
or starting a Graphical login.
You should NOT have to type startx.

You don't need to be root to run that command and you might as well just run it w/o the 'pastebin' and post the output here inside 'code' tags. (I got 30 lines output from it).

My guess is that setting up the screensaver is NOT causing your boot problem.

ok when I try to boot I get this message following here but I cannot type in that "inxi..." because nothing appears when I type, only can put in root password:

When I enter my root password and enter in "inxi -Fszc0" I get a long list of all my hardwares with no errors, would post a screen shot here but my phone camera is hosed

on the text screen I type "startx user:signmeuptoo" (was guessing on how to type it, and I get a ton of stuff until the end where it says:

Kernal mode setting enabled.xinit: unable to run program "/user/bin/xterm": No such file or directory Specify a program on the command l"... it truncates there on the screen and goes to a prompt, in the middle of the screen that flashes but doesn't respond.

Boot the live media (your installation media) and paste back the results of sudo blkid

Stay in the live session so you can mount the linux partition and check the autostart folder and possibly get rid of xscreensaver

Looking at that, I remember that I had to update Windows and when the update (it's a dual boot) updated Windows literallly wiped the Mint install, so I had to reinstall Mint.

During my first install, I only had the SSD hooked up, but when I did the windows update and had to restore it off of the thumb drive, I did have the other drives connected. Did that cause Windows to put start up stuff on the hard drive rather than the SSD?

Freaking Windows.

I still have to be able to run it, and don't have a second personal computer so I do need to dual boot.

And I still don't get why those three drives, the 3 TB WD Blacks are seen as ZFS.

I did have everything running ok, but I did make it to where the 3 WD drives would mount on boot.

Maybe someone else who dual boots can help with windows, I don't dual boot here.
