Only boots when in recovery mode!

Hello,

After installing Linux onto my 1TB HDD, I went to boot and it got to the loading screen with the logo and the dots. When all of the dots are green the laptop became frozen. I then tried it in recovery mode and it booted as normal, if not a little bit slow. This keeps happening and I can find no way to stop it.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue?

Hello AChesh and Welcome to Linux Mint,

We need to know what video card your machine is using. But I suspect it may be Nvidia
if so got to this page https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_serena_cinnamon.php and scroll down to the section name Solving freezes and follow the instructions there.

I managed to install the NVIDIA Driver and it boots as normal. However, once I've logged on I get the 'Cinnamon has crashed' message.

Which version of Mint are you using, 18.1 /17.3 ?

I am using the newest release of Linux Mint. I installed the NVIDIA Settings Panel and it is working fine now with all the drivers installed.
