Erratic sound problem Mint 18.1

Post by deepakdeshp »

Hello,
Sometimes I dont get sound . When I do test sound , when sound isnt working, I see 6 speakers including a woofer etc. For sound to appear again , I need to reboot the laptop
When sound IS working, I can see only left and right speakers which is the correct thing.
Can you suggest me anything please? My configuration is given below,

Note :- trying different Kernel didnt help.

Have you tried the old basic stuff, like disabling/removing the sound card and all that stuff?

I would have, but it is a laptop and no easy access to the internal cards, :(

I'm having the same issue with my HP G62 laptop. I have sound recognition sometimes and during the same session of listening to something it will just quit. Have you found out anything about this issue. I have tried to change kernels and to no avail. I have replaced the speakers for making static sound, but never unhooked on-board sound. I'm thinking it is a software issue, i can sometime plug in headphones and have audio. Also, when i hook it up to my tv and surround sound, it works, sometimes having to unplug and plug back into laptop HDMI port. :?
