Problems with using Shutter. (solved)

I am experiencing difficulties in getting the screenshot application Shutter to open. the problem started when it would not start from the launcher in my top toolbar, Linux Mint 17.3 KDE. Now, it will not open reliably from any place including the startup menu.
If I patiently keep clicking, it will sometimes open on the last operation.
I tried re-installing it in my synaptic package manager, but it made no difference.
Advice please?

In a terminal open shutter by typing:

shutter

If there are any missing modules or problems they will be displayed in the terminal window.

I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well.

Try deleting the Shutter hidden configuration folder. With shutter closed, you can open the file manager, click show hidden files, right click the ".shutter" folder and delete it. When you restart shutter, it will create a new configuration folder.

Example: replace "YourUserName" below with your actual user name...
sudo rm -r /home/YourUserName/.shutter/

or use the command below which does the same thing....

sudo rm -r  ~/.shutter

Thanks for the replies Box and Phd21.
And apologies for my late reply. I did not see a notification at the top of my page on the forums for some reason or other, so did not look further. Besides, the problem, (if I actually had one at all?) seemed to resolve itself. I may have been using it incorrectly, or the updates have updated it. (or some other explanation.)
