Every time I see a misspelling...

Post by Amii_Leigh »

My mind just takes off into a tangent, making fun of the way the misspelling was used.
In this case, the word is 'duel' used instead of 'dual' which was intended.
So in my deluded mind, I'm thinking of two operating systems installed on a flatland type world, constantly waging battle with each other, over their shared territory and I can't stop laughing in this imagining.
At least I didn't post this in their thread, you know?

I sometimes call it that deliberately.
When somebody wants to set up dual boot with the stated intent of eventually switching fully to Linux Mint ... that's Duel Boot™

Of course, there is the issue of 'Ms. Pell' and her strange ability to miss her opportunity, no matter how close it is! :)

Apostrophe abuse on plurals is my thing.
That and the "system tray" in Linux.

I spell everything out, usually. Be it Operating Systems or chat room conversations. In my online game I'm constantly running across people that think it's a fine thing to say 'gg' after a successful mission. I so want to slap them across the face, and say, "Speak English, or shut up!".

What's English? I was taught "the Queen's English" at high school. American spelling was severely reprimanded....

I must say, that I still have misgivings about "color" instead of "colour", and "behavior" instead of "behaviour".

But it is in English, once you expand the abbreviation.

I can relate, and also many times my mind does the misspelling for me. One forums related one, is the "mark forums read" button, which turns into "mark forums dead". And after that, clicking it has a slightly sinister meaning. As in "now you're read to me!"
