Live CD crash, cannot install 18.1 cinnamon

Hello,

Using mint for a while on my laptop, i'm planning to use mint 18.1 alongside windows (games...)

Have tried with a qhd monitor, switch back to a full hd display, I thought it was a problem.
Have tried amd 7900 and amd 6850 unsuccessfully. Also tried an old nvidia 7800gt but crashes during boot with some message related to graphics card.

But live cd is crashing.

With 7900 in QHD, cinnamon crashes during desktop loading, with a weird sound loop.
With others tries in HD, cinnamon freeze later.

Is there a way to monitor what could be wrong ? Some log file ?

My pc : p8p67 motherboard, i5 processor

Just tried ubuntu 17 live

Same problem, freeze with weird buzzing sound

Checked my bios, first release version.. maybe an update could do something..

Did you try to start with the nomodeset kernel parameter ?

Just tried.

Was freezing just after desktop displaying,
now freezing a bit later (open a terminal and tried a few commands, or open firefox with a few browsing)

maybe my ram has some errors..
works smoothly under windows (hate to say that )

Yep, removed my first 2x4 go first ram modules.

The Live Mint is running smoothly, even without "nomodeset"

Is the Ram quantity could be a problem ?

I should try with the others modules...

Just tested with the two others and identified them as "problematic"
Tested also the two positions to confirm.
