RT2500 USB wifi sticks are generally supported very well. I own two of them, and they've worked out of the box. However, I've never tried them with Mint or Ubuntu, but hopefully, that shouldn't matter too much.

I purchased mine in some run-down computer fix it shack, but the RT2500 is a chipset type, not an actual card.
I believe "http://www.shopping.com/xPF-Linksys-Lin ... eedBooster" uses the Rt2500 chipset, as I found info on it here:

There are a number of other cards that use the rt2500 chipset, they shouldn't be too hard to track down.
