Terminal app swallowing my ALT keypresses

Post by mintuser »

Hi everyone, I'm trying to use emacs from within the terminal, but when I press the ALT key, the terminal wants to use it for its own purposes, i.e., the top menu. Any way to prevent this from happening? I'd rather not have to resort to using ESC for my meta commands in emacs.

Thanks,

I think that's a general behaviour for most programs
I tried to find something about it but I did not and I don't think it can be controlled in bashrc
