The 4.4 LTS kernel now supports up to 6 years.

Post by SuperSapien »

Starting with Linux Kernel 4.4 LTS it will have support up to six years: https://fossbytes.com/linux-kernel-lts- ... s-support/
But this brings up a question about my Linux Mint 17,2 KDE that has kernel 3.13.0-107 supposedly that kernel on had support for two years which means it shouldn't have support anymore after 2015-2016? :?:

That doesn't apply to Linux Mint 17 or 18. The 3.13 kernel used by LM17 will be supported until April 2019 and the 4.4 kernel used by LM18 is supported until 2021. The article is about mainline kernels, Linux Mint 17 and 18 use Ubuntu distribution kernels and have different support timelines
