The 4.4 LTS kernel now supports up to 6 years.

The 4.4 LTS kernel now supports up to 6 years.

That doesn't apply to Linux Mint 17 or 18. The 3.13 kernel used by LM17 will be supported until April 2019 and the 4.4 kernel used by LM18 is supported until 2021. The article is about mainline kernels, Linux Mint 17 and 18 use Ubuntu distribution kernels and have different support timelines
