Minecraft mods

Post by heathermf »

Hello! I have the Minecraft launcher and am wanting to add in Forge, and use mods. Can anyone give me an idea of how it translates with the files and where to store them versus when I stored them in Win?

Heather :)

I figured out, change the permissions so that the JAR is executable. Any other tips I will still take!

Gotta love Minecraft. I would imagine the mods directory is defined by Minecraft so it's probably in the same place as on Windows... I'm guessing.

I am suggesting to use MultiMC (https://multimc.org/): manages multiple instances of Minecraft, can install Forge, etc. :)

Don't know if that will help? Maybe other videos (people do more of these than forum advice these days!) if not that one?
Laptop overheating? Check link here:itsfoss guide . Also a move from Cinnamon to XFCE can give a -5 to -10 degrees C change on overheating hardware.

It was mentioned earlier...MultiMC. That was the ONLY thing that allowed my son to use the 1.8.9 launcher and install his gazillion mods. Everything else failed.
