upgrade from mint 18 to mint 18.2

Post by dave8671 » Tue Oct 10, 2017 11:28 am

All seemed to go well thought get this startup applet message pop that states check the syslog or looking-glass log for applet issue and I am posting the syslog. This is a learning experience for me how to fix this as well. This is my first time performing an upgrade though update manager.

What exactly does the message say?

Just states applets did not start and check the syslog or lookinglass.log. I am not sure what one is causing the issue.

Then disable half of them. If the problem persists, re-enable those and disable the other half. Narrow it down to a single applet by dividing the non-working part by half each time.

I am not sure how to disable them, how do I disable them? The message states extensions of which I have none installed. I attached a screenshot of the message.

Solved: upgrade from mint 18 to mint 18.2

Seems the applet that was causing the issue was Places. I went to online to cinnamon spices and places had a red dot and once I refreshed the online the list Places updated and now the message is gone.
