Hi ehtron, just on boot or even during session?
I've no issues on boot but while I use the PC.

Is there a chance to install a second 18.2 as a fresh install on the machine (dual-booting)? I wonder, if the origin of the problem has been imported from the previous version. If not: Launch the live system and watch there (needs some patience).

The same, ehtron

Thanks the same Cosmo but a dual boot doesn't solve the problem on my main system and even with a live-dvd I cant' see what causes crashes.
The issue is not at boot neither a few minutes later but occasionally.

I read your postings and have some questions concerning your upgrade procedure
1- did you update 18.1 completely before upgrade and reboot before starting upgrade
2- did you change nvidia driver to open source before upgrading and reboot the computer before upgrade
3- did you update the kernel to the one you want to use sudo update-grub enter password reboot before reinstalling nvidia
4- do you have nvidia settings installed and do you see the green arrow on the bottom panel when nvidia card is active

I did a clean install of 18.2 but I still see Cinnamon crash from time to time. Nothing regular or predictable. I have Intel graphics.

1 - Yes, full update 18.1 and reboot before upgrade to 18.2
2 - No. Linux Mint doesn't suggest to do that in order to upgrade.
3 - I had already updated the kernel to 4.8.xx last avalaible
4 - nvidia perfectly running

PS I had disabled all the applet except Weather (I thought it was insignificant) but kept crash. I disabled even weather and so far I had no more issues. Maybe Cinnamon 3.4 doesn't support any of the applet very well. What a shame. I used them a lot.

Any new news on this segfault problem? I still have it happening 2-3 times per day. Fortunately I can restart Cinnamon without losing any data.

I've been having the same problem ever since upgrading to 8.2, several crashes per day. It recovers mostly OK, though it seems to break some key bindings in my running Eclipse (Oxygen) sessions which force me to exit and restart Eclipse.

Hi I also have had cinnamon crash after upgrading to 18.2 I am running it on a lenovo w510 i7 16gb ram nvidia fx880 video card.
once it starts to crash it keeps asking if you want to restart but it refuses to restart.
I did an update
I did a clean install
both ended up with the same issue. interestingly it resorts to mate.
I am not sure what to do next. maybe a clean install of 118.3 cinnamon when it is released?
I would appreciate any help with this issue.
Thanks
Dan
