What is Live 18.2 DVD screensaver password.

Post by brvcf »

18.2 XFCE 32 bit live DVD
If screensaver activates it asks for username and password.
Other posts say user is mint and password is blank
I have tried all kinds of combinations, none work.

can't recall but pretty sure same problem on 64 bit as well
yes I have checked sha256 sum of iso files
this same problem has occurred on several pcs so it is not the dvd drive misreading the disk, or a bad keyboard, etc

user: "mint"
pass: ""
That is, just press Enter, with no typed characters, as the password.

does not work, at least not reliably.

if I futz around enough maybe I can get it to unlock. Last time I got it to work I used the on-screen keyboard.

this makes no sense because I can see that I've typed "mint" for the user, and I know I just pressed return for the password.

and since the password is blank the usual 'caps lock on' problem would not apply.

Smells like a hardware issue. We've had plenty of folks who needed the tip on how to unlock a live session (absurd this isn't in the manual), but can't recall anyone else reporting it didn't work. Doubt it's the keyboard. Memory, maybe?

How do you get to a hardware error from a live install not accepting a null password?

Can you be more clear on your 'futzing'?
