Post by lisabonne citadel »

I've been seeing some ferocious 4-wheeled animals and this one I was impressed by their feracity....

I don't really have a favorite car. If I had the money to do so, I would probably buy a battery electric car, possibly a Nissan Leaf or maybe a Tesla. And if I had any money left over, I'd probably try to track down a 1963 Ford Falcon station wagon like I used to have (my first car), or a 1965 Datsun sedan like I used to have (my second car). I've never named a car myself, but the Datsun was named "Ziggy" when I bought it, and I kept that name. Both of those cars developed a reputation among my friends for being able to drive up just about any mountain road.

Not supercharged. Still runs great. I got a great deal on it because I bought it used and with issues. I spent some time repairing the Electrical system, Fuel system and added a Nice doubledin touch radio/amp/speakers and BOOM. Nice ride with Leather seats!

I call mine "The Bismarck" because on the trip home from buying it; it died. Had to throw in an other fuel pump relay to get it home to fix the issues. lol. But I got a good deal on it. Everything is fixed now and runs great.

I don't really care for cars; they need to be practical. For me, that means that they need to be small vans. And get great mileage. And a tall guy needs to be comfortable when he's riding with me.
Our current van is a Renault Kangoo which works great in every way, and the next one might very well be another Kangoo... but electric. So here's a piccie of what may be my next car.

It might be an odd choice, but my favourite is the old-style Honda CRV (with the tyre on the back)

We had one a while back - you could go anywhere and do almost anything in it. It even had a built-in picnic table in the back that you could take out and unfold (we never did, sadly). It was pretty fuel efficient too.

The CRV's they make today don't look like they'd survive a trip out of suburbia... :(

GM has re-badged the Holden Commodore - again - as a Chevy Impala SS in the USA. The first time it was re-badged as a Pontiac G8. I tried to buy one around 2007-08 but they were back ordered and they would not come off the sticker price.

I love the 2015 Honda CRV I currently drive. We live on a steep mountainside 5 miles from the nearest pavement (but we have broadband internet, Vermont is funny like that) and awd is a necessity much of the winter. Hoping to move to an EV soon, maybe park it on bad days and drive an old backup vehicle. My wife runs a business out of the house but I have a 25 mile commute. Given our 11kw of solar panels, an EV would save a lot of money. Want a Tesla but the wife says no... the Chevy Bolt looks decent.
