recent problems accessing certain web pages when using Firefox (solved)

Post by Boca »

Has anyone else noticed problems in the last week or so ( since there was an upgrade to Firefox?)

With 2 separate companies, I have been unable to login to their portals but when I contact their customer service, they can log in fine.
When I then try using Chromium there is no problem

I've had reason to log in to all my accounts recently, which was after the upgrade to FF57. No problems whatsoever.

What happens. The login fields don't show? Form buttons don't work? Your credentials aren't accepted? What? :)

Could it be you have a content blocking extension in Firefox (to block ads, tracking, or scripts?) that is causing a problem? Try running Firefox in safe mode by typing about:support in the Firefox address bar and click the "Restart with Add-ons Disabled" button. See if the login works now.

Else, if you want further suggestion, you'll have to share the links to those login portals if possible.

Thanks Xenopeek,

I tried restarting firefox as you describe and got onto both sites' login page successfully.
However, when I then restarted Firefox normally, it also successfully accessed those pages.
I do not have an ad/content blockers running.

I'll monitor the situation and report back ( with more detail on the fault) if it recurs.
If it's ok for a few days, I'll mark as Solved.

thanks for your help, Tony

"Has anyone else noticed problems...since there was an upgrade to Firefox?" Yes. Google complains about 'unusual traffic' and asks me to solve a Captcha. I don't mind too much, I like the irony of a robot trying to determine if I am human... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turing_test
