Documents Saved in Libreoffice not Appearing in LM 18
Running Linux Mint 18 "Sarah" on an early 2006 imac. I've had this installation up and running smoothly for nearly a year, but this problem has just manifested itself in the last month or so. When I generate a Libreoffice document and try to save it normally (using either the "Save" icon at the top of the page, or clicking "Save as" from the file menu), the action completes without drama (no messages or warnings). But the document does not appear in the desired location. If I try to save it again, I get a message that "This document already exists. Do you want to replace it?" Doesn't matter what I click on, the document still doesn't appear. A search in "Catfish" for the exact document name shows "No Results". Again, this problem has only appeared recently and I haven't changed any settings or permissions...at least none I am aware of. Can anyone help with this? Thank you.

Hello Javelin Dan
Welcome to Linux Mint and the Linux Mint forum
Your problem sounds very strange especially when you get "This document already exists. Do you want to replace it" when you try and save it again
Try this to determine where the files are going.
Save a Libreoffice document as testdoc or whatever name you want then immediately after saving it paste
The find will list files in your home folder that changed status in the last two minutes.

Thank you for responding. I'll certainly try that tomorrow and let you know either way. FYI - I forgot to mention in my previous post that I am running the XFCE version in case it's relevant.
Re: Documents Saved in Libreoffice not Appearing in LM 18
Launch LO without a module. This gives you a page with the history of the last used documents, so that you should be able to open the questioned one. After you have opened it call the properties from the file menu, where you should see the complete path-name of it. Perhaps you have set a dot at the beginning of the filename, so that this file is usually hidden in the file manager.

Here is the output of the command WharfRat suggested - not sure what it means:

Re: Documents Saved in Libreoffice not Appearing in LM 18
Cosmo - Not sure what you meant by "Launch LO without a module". What I did do was launch a blank page, click on recent documents, and then hover my cursor over each document on the list. Is this different from what you are asking? Anyway, I could see a path for each document and they were all directed to my "Home" folder even though most were directed to the desktop. However, none show up in my home folder. I did notice that in the output from WharfRat's command, I saw "Denied" a couple of times, though not sure of what I was denied. Any advice appreciated.

Is this the file you edited or created then saved /home/daniel/Desktop/Cast\ Boolits.doc

Re: Documents Saved in Libreoffice not Appearing in LM 18
That was a draft I created, then copied and pasted to another forum today. I saved it and for whatever reason I can see it. But any number of recent documents I saved recently I still can't see or recover unless I search "Recent Documents" in Libre Office.

Can you create a document called wharfrat.doc with the content "hello wharfrat", save it the way you normally do then immediately run
Have a terminal window open when creating wharfrat.doc.
find ~ -cmin -2 -ls
Have a terminal window open when creating wharfrat.doc.
Re: Documents Saved in Libreoffice not Appearing in LM 18
LO modules are Writer, Calc and so on. If you open the menu there is a command to launch LO without any of the available modules, the title bar says in this case just "LibreOffice", nothing else. The window should show you the history of the last used documents in descending order.
