Mint not recognizing HP laptop bluetooth
New HP Core I5 laptop came with Win10, loaded Mint 18.3 and Bluetooth not recognized.
Is this the continuing issue with HP wifi hardware and Mint, and if so is there a work-around or a suggested Mint compatible wifi USB dongle?
FWIW, I popped in a Panda PAU07 wifi dongle that Mint doesn't recognize.

interesting ... the panda pau07 just lit up. hmm.
Re: Mint not recognizing HP laptop bluetooth
Well the drivers are loaded for the USB wifi, the bluetooth likely doesn't have firmware yet for it to work and the realtek bluetooth module likely needs an update
Re: Mint not recognizing HP laptop bluetooth
where to get such drivers and firmware that are compatible with mint?JeremyB wrote:Well the drivers are loaded for the USB wifi, the bluetooth likely doesn't have firmware yet for it to work and the realtek bluetooth module likely needs an update
Re: Mint not recognizing HP laptop bluetooth
As far as I know the firmware and drivers don't exist yet for that chipset in any Linuxrfd wrote:where to get such drivers and firmware that are compatible with mint?JeremyB wrote:Well the drivers are loaded for the USB wifi, the bluetooth likely doesn't have firmware yet for it to work and the realtek bluetooth module likely needs an update
Re: Mint not recognizing HP laptop bluetooth

Re: Mint not recognizing HP laptop bluetooth
ok, this is freaky - i pulled out the pau07, plugged it back in and wifi instantly came alive. not a clue why, but i'm not complaining ... maybe a flaky dongle, i'll see.
much obliged for your time and assistance, JeremyB!

Re: Mint not recognizing HP laptop bluetooth
Great as I have been looking for reasons that adapter doesn't work and couldn't find much
Re: Mint not recognizing HP laptop bluetooth
yer gonna love (or hate!) this - i just now moved the pau07 to another port and realized what happened ... there's a teeny tiny WPS switch embedded on its side ... DOH!!!! how embarassing!!!
