Alternatives for Rhythmbox?

Although I like Rhythmbox, I like to know what alternatives you use
and why you find them better.

I use Audacious. Very light with clear interface and has winamp skin.

I'll second the love for Audacious I use it a lot in addition to Rhythmbox, it's more a light playlist creation tool but that works quite well. I've heard good things about Clementine (maybe I'll play a bit during the holidays with it as well.)

I just read your post and the good replies to it. Here are my thoughts on this as well.

There are a lot of great music applications available for Linux Mint. I have numerous music applications installed, and my favorite fully featured, music player manager is "Amarok". Audacious and Clementine are excellent as well.

The GUI is very superior. Amazingly customizable. Wine takes up a bunch of disk space but very little memory or CPU.
Edit: I also run a bunch of graphics stuff in wine - it might not be worth it just for foobar.

In that consumption of memory and CPU you have to add and the one needed for the windows software because it is not just wine which is running. I can agree that using wine is justified when there is no comparable linux alternative, but especially in that case it doesn't sound very good to me.

I use VLC... with all respect for "proprietary" players (meaning players that are shipped with a given desktop environments or a given distro, and that come and go), I think VLC is still one of the best players outside, if not the best. While the UI is pretty basic (some could say, outdated) I feel it does the job. It works perfectly with Cinnamon's taskbar, it's multiplatform, it's fast and light, it plays everything, it's well maintained and will not be replaced in the next distribution.

That's nice.
I do almost all my graphics and audio with windows software+wine, so it's very much worth it to me: photoshop, audition, irfanview, AutoPanoPro, Photomatrix, windows version of avidemux, foxitreader, ConvertXtoDVD. And foobar.

If not for 'wine', I probably wouldn't use linux.

I absolutely agree. Nothing can beat f2k, when it goes about organizing music, create easily replay gain data, convert files, organize the music in intelligent playlists, set the GUI to the personal wishes and much more. Even system wide keyboard shortcuts (play, pause, forward, go back) are doable, which is something special for Windows software running in Linux.

The Linux player which comes nearest to it is Quod Libet.

I have been using VLC for music & videos since I dropped WinAmp & RealPlayer (seems like a century ago). VLC does all I need, but I know there are a few others out there that 'get the job done', also.
Find the one that suits you.

Long years of usage means that you have used to it and everything else seems not so usable. For example the keyboard shortcuts - you can't compare music players software by their shortcuts, or the way you used to organize the play lists. Somebody else may find a simple method much more effective... just like I do.
