If virtualbox is installed correctly you have the vboxusers group
Look in Users and Groups in the control Center
If vboxusers is not there I suggest you reinstall virtualbox

Hey Husse, it has taken me months to figure this out and the OP might need this knowledge too.
The 'Users' part of 'Users and Groups' shows next to nothing by default - not even your own user account
If you want it to be the slightest bit useful you have to run gconf-editor and go to 'apps/gnome-system-tools/users' and place a tick in the 'showall' box.
Why on earth is it this obscure??

My own user account only became visible after I applied the gconf fix.
I have installed it twice and it was the same both times. Still, no matter, I know how to do it now but it took me several months to find out!

That's odd - could it be because you have a number in your user name?
I've always had it shown in gnome - I have not always checked in the other versions I've installed
(and I have about 10 installed Mint and of course there have been many more installed and deleted
)
