Oh how can you really take seriously people who use files that modify the system and exclude folders from anti virus ?
I can speak since I switched to Linux Mint I had no error or bug.
They do not even know which version of Linux you just talk Linux they throw all kinds of dirty words and stones ...

One thing I would suggest, create a partition as a 50G partition as /. Partition the rest as /Home. IF the system fails, reinstall and use the exact same username and all your 'stuff' comes back to you.
