Post by clash » Sat Feb 03, 2018 12:45 pm

Hi and sorry for my english

I'm new on the forum and so i give my best regards to all the users and admin

I'm using Linux Mint for 2/3 years and it was working well...i have the Sonya release 18.2...after an upgrade i had this problem from 1 month during i tried to find the resolution googling etc but no one worked for me...when i do a simply un upgrade (not dist-upgrade) the software is ugraded but from the security repository i have this message:"The repository 'http://archive.ubuntu.com sonya-security Release' does not have a Release file.Data from such a repository can't be authenticated and is therefore potentially dangerous to use.See apt-secure(8) manpage for repository creation and user configuration details. It's imposible to find http://archive.ubuntu.com/dists/sonya-s ... 4/Packages 404 Not Found [IP: 91.189.88.162 80] It's impossible to download some index files: they will be ignored or will be used older ones.

Here my source list (official-package-repositories.list):

Code: Select all

deb http://linuxmintpkg.efemef.ovh sonya main upstream import backport

deb http://ubuntu.ictvalleumbra.it/ubuntu xenial main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://ubuntu.ictvalleumbra.it/ubuntu xenial-updates main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://ubuntu.ictvalleumbra.it/ubuntu xenial-backports main restricted universe multiverse

deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ xenial-security main restricted universe multiverse
deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu/ xenial partner

Hello, clash.

Looking at the sources list file which you had posted, I wonder where the error message
The repository 'http://archive.ubuntu.com sonya-security Release' does not have a Release file.
may come from? :?
The error message suggests that there is a sources list file where a line (incorrectly) reads
deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ sonya-security main restricted universe multiverse
Yet, the sources list file which you posted does not hold any such line.

Therefore, I suggest that you follow minitux's advice carefully.

In case this does not solve your issue, please, open a terminal window. Execute the command

Code: Select all

inxi -r
Mark the complete screen output which it displays and paste it in your next reply.

Best regards,
Karl
