(Solved) Please help with Bluetooth

Post by toolrick »

Can you please help me out with Bluetooth? I am having the same issue than you were at the beginning of this thread, I am using Linux 18.1 Cinamon and am new at it. Before I was using Linux in a USB Flash, and bluetooth was working well as everything else, now I made a clean install and everything works well except that.

Here is the information on terminal:

'

Try the following then shutdown the computer then boot

Code: Select all

wget https://www.dropbox.com/s/r6q9zt59darq80n/BCM43142A0-0a5c-216c.hcd
sudo cp BCM43142A0-0a5c-216c.hcd /lib/firmware/brcm/BCM.hcd

That didn't work either, I have unistalled bluberry and installed blueman before I wrote the post.
The bluetooth Icon now does not show up in the task bar, but I have to open it from the menu-Bluetooth Administrator, but blueman does not show any options. It's like it have been disabled.

I would use the Linux Mint Update Manager/View/Linux kernel to install the newest 4.13 kernel and then reboot

I have already upgraded it; attached I am sending the information of the system I am using.

On the other hand, when I try to access to blueman, it says "Turn off the Bluetooth-It's necessary to turn on the Bluetooth adapter for the Bluetooth Administrator to work"

Thanks,

Do you think a USB dongle can solve the problem? I have a wireless keyboard that I want to use with my computer and it only gets connected through bluetooth.

A dongle might work but see http://askubuntu.com/a/632348/300665 as it is a guide on how to make firmware from a windows driver, search the windows inf for 216c

Thanks for your answer, however how should I know what driver should I install? or what my device is?
When I bought my computer in 2015, it came with win8.

Thanks,

There is a full list of BCM on the page you sent me, but I do not know which one would work in my case:
Attached is the full list:

Find the bcbtums-win8x86-brcm.inf file and search if for 216c and you should find a [RAMUSB216C.CopyList] and that will have the name of the hcd file below it

Seems like a lot of effort... I have all the drivers from windows in a back up, but I do not know if they could be installed somehow in linux. Also I do not know specifically which driver is from the bluetooth as all are named SP...

You could try

Code: Select all

cd /lib/firmware/brcm
sudo wget https://github.com/winterheart/broadcom-bt-firmware/blob/master/brcm/BCM43142A0-0a5c-216c.hcd
sudo cp BCM43142A0-0a5c-216c.hcd BCM.hcd
Reboot and see if that works

Tried that, but when I open blueman it's like it does not recognize anything or it has been deactivated.

sudo cp BCM43142A0-0a5c-216c.hcd BCM.hcd
Reboot

Thanks, that did not work either. I think I will just stay away from using the bluetooth.
