[SOLVED} Kodi not playing music

Post by Ozo »

System is 18.3 Sylvia (stats below). I was attempting to try out Kodi as a player but get no sound. I do not see the music note icon on the panel. I purged it once and reloaded. Sound works on other players.

The player loads my music to the library ok, there is a muted speaker icon in the upper left but the cursor has no effect on it and scrolling does nothing. Looking for a volume control now.

Code: Select all

OK I have found the players volume and raised it. Now the speaker icon is gone. Still the songs do not play. There is no indication that the player is active in the panel (volume icon) after a click. I will purge and reinstall barring a hot tip from all you Kodi users.

Hooray, It is working now but only when music is selected from the players library. I pick a song from my home files and choose Kodi to play but it will not play.

When playing there is still no indication of activity on my panel like the other players I have tried.

Ho Ozo,
You are posting your inxi report in your topic which is an excellent idea--many members are encouraging this so thumbs up.
When you offer extended information you will get a more focused response.

To make this information easier to access and keep the body of your topic shorter paste long results like this within code brackets.
The code brackets are enabled by clicking </> icon in the bar just below your subject (5th icon from left), then paste your information there between them.

This allows viewers to scroll to the information they wish to view.
example:

Code: Select all

Sorry--I don't use Kodi so I can offer no help here.

Keep up the good form.

I see and have changed that. I used the C icon from the top of the editing window which gave the long version. When I wrote the entire word (code) or use the </> icon it is the shorter version. Thanks for the advise. :)

It looks like Kodi will not act as a conventional player as I wanted but does play music after I load it. I am marking this solved.
