Help please connecting to wifi (BTHub5)

Hi all,

I'm not a total newbie but this the first time I've used Mint and I love the look and feel BUT am struggling to connect to my BTHub 5. So any help hugely appreciated.

I started having this issue with Ubuntu a few weeks ago but put it down to a large number of updates over recent years, so decided that a minty fresh install was needed today but am disappointed to find still no wifi joy...

I have been using the BTHub 5 successfully, and today it works fine with X Boxes and mobiles as well as a PC with Windows 10. So it seems to be working.

At the moment the only way I can go online to write this is via a cable. This comes from a BT Mini Connector (one of those pairs of extender things that plug into your electricity circuit near the router and then can connect to its pair in another room). If I enable wireless in Mint I can also SEE my BT dual band wifi range extender and the signal seems strong at 94% but despite entering the correct password it won't connect.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Start with updating your system completely including the Kernel to 4.13 then do a re-boot.

open terminal and post the results of this command

Thank you Mattyboy. Have now fully updated. After updating and re-booting I was excited to see that I could connect to my BTHub - but it was just a connection with no internet access (if that makes sense).

Anyway, I hope there are clues in the outputs below...

I just tried reconnecting to my BTHub and its "connecting" for several minutes, but fails to connect, then just stops attempting.

Is it adviseable to re-enable power management for the wifi?

I don't think it's necessary. Mine has always been off without me doing it explicitly and the wifi works.

Update

Thanks guys. A neighbour just lent me his Realtek 802.11n NIC USB wifi dongle - and all works fine with that and my Mint. I think it might be simpler to buy one of these. The internal Ralink 2600 adapter (having worked fine before!) is just not doing it's job anymore.
