Sonya or Serena? [SOLVED]
I am somewhat confused! I am running Serena, which was released not so long ago, and now Sonya comes on the scene as an update/upgrade which has to be downloaded for a new install. Serena is no longer a listed distro. What was the point in installing Serena? I could have kept running Rosa thus avoiding more work and hassle. I would have thought a Serena update via the Update Manager would have been more appropriate. Now, if I want to run Sonya (after only several months using Serena) I have to start all over again, downloading, installing, configurating, etc., what a pain! Apologies if I am missing something...

Re: Sonya or Serena?
You are missing the fact that you can actually upgrade directly from 18.1 to 18.2 through the update manager, without doing a new installation.

It is still listed: https://linuxmint.com/download_all.phpriki wrote: Serena is no longer a listed distro. What was the point in installing Serena? I could have kept running Rosa thus avoiding more work and hassle.
And it is supported until 2021. If it works well, no need to update if you don't want to.

Change the word "update" into "upgrade", and I agree.killer de bug wrote:It is still listed: https://linuxmint.com/download_all.phpriki wrote: Serena is no longer a listed distro. What was the point in installing Serena? I could have kept running Rosa thus avoiding more work and hassle.

Many thanks Moem, I just had the feeling that I was missing something...apologies for my rant. Sorted.Moem wrote:You are missing the fact that you can actually upgrade directly from 18.1 to 18.2 through the update manager, without doing a new installation.
Re: Sonya or Serena? [SOLVED]
Thanks all for your support. I didn't realize that upgrading was possible via the Update Manager. All done now.

Re: Sonya or Serena?
Thank you for the tip
I now see how to update Linux Mint.
But

scares me.
Re: Sonya or Serena?
Maybe you should start a thread about that, and explain why this is so.
