HDMI Troubles on startup

Hi, I got some troubles with my HDMI Port, I have 2 graphic cards :

HDMI Display works only when I set the graphic card to the Nvidia one, but the biggest problem is that if I start my PC with the HDMI Port plugged in, the graphics does strange things, icon will be very small, impossible to read the inscriptions... But if I startup without HDMI and then plug in when the PC is on the desktop, everything works properly, does anyone have an idea ?

Have you tried using nomodeset?

gksudo xed /etc/default/grub 

xed being your text editor
Edit this line

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash"

and change it to

GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash nomodeset"

Save and exit.
Run in termnal

Code: Select all

sudo update-grub

Reboot.

Thanks for the quick reply, I did that, now my PC is lagging ^^' I can't change my graphics to the Nvidia one, because it's look like Nvidia manager did not start up and I can't get the previous display I add inside the Nvidia software.
Did you have this problem ? I will try to remove what you told me to do, then change the graphics to the Nvidia card and apply your changes.

Lol, my PC won't load now ^^' I don't see the Linux mint logo on startup just green points blinking and then it froze ^^'

Ok so I fixed it in recovery mode, my pc start up properly now. I forgot to say that I'm under KDE if maybe it change something.

Remove the edit to Grub reverting back to its original state.

Provide the results of the following commands

Note: If you still cannot boot try one of the following solutions:

Try with "nouveau.noaccel=1" instead of "nomodeset".
Use the "Compatibility mode" to boot and install Linux Mint.
After the installation, use "Advanced Options" -> "Recovery mode" from the boot menu and choose "resume".
