I need Windows 7 because Linux simply isn't capable of running a few programs I use. No amount of trying has worked, and after a month of failures I'm tired of dealing with it. So I need a Windows 7 drive as well.
I'm trying to create a Windows 7 boot USB because I don't have a CD drive anymore. Every time I try to make one with 'USB Image Writer' I run into grub issues. As in there is no grub, and my new, blank hard drive can't do anything because the computer can't figure out what to do. I've tried UNetbootin as well with no success (simply a black screen with a flashing cursor, and after an hour I called it a failure. Twice.), and a program called YUMI can't even find my USB drive to attempt to use so that's a wash as well.
How do I create a Windows 7 USB boot drive in Linux?

I gloomily came to the ironic conclusion that if you take a highly intelligent person and give them the best possible, elite education, then you will most likely wind up with an academic who is completely impervious to reality.

After reading this post, I did some research, and determined that Rufus will make a bootable Win7 USB drive. I've used Rufus for Linux Mint and it's extremely easy to use. Assume the same is true for creating a Win7 disk.
Note there is a difference between making a bootable USB drive that will INSTALL Win7 (on another hard drive) and a USB drive that has Win7 INSTALLED on it.

rufus is a Windwoes application. The OP needs a linux application.

try etcher works well for me. https://etcher.io never had it fail to make a usable bootable usb stick.
Though I've never tried it with a win 7 .iso
Where are you getting the win 7.iso files that may also be the problem unless your getting them from M.S. and paying the price.
