How to move custom launcher to bottom of MATE's main menu?

Post by MateForever »

I would like a custom launcher (called Power Options in the screenshot) to be at the very bottom of MATE's "Main Menu":

I've already tried both mozo (MATE's menu editor) as well as menulibre (DE-agnostic menu editor), but I cannot find Places, System, or Lock Screen in the menu editors, so I'm thinking these items are hardwired into the menu and I need to manually edit a file somewhere in order to make my custom launcher show at the bottom. I already looked around /usr/share/mate/desktop-directories/ and found no obvious leads.

Any ideas?

P.S. I'm on MATE 1.16.2

you are probably using Mint Menu or some such. Change to Menu Bar to get more features

This tweak is for wife's and kids' computers, who were Windows users. They are partial to "Main Menu - The main MATE menu" (the one in my screenshot) because it is almost identical to what they are used to.

I just now opened the Main Menu editor, selected one of the folders, and then moved it up and down using the arrows.
The changes are effective in both "main menu" and the "menu bar".

all I can think of is that Mint has some pieces of Mate missing.

--sorry no screen shots, I quit dropbox and have not replaced it with another web service.

I worked around the problem by recompiling the mate-panel package so that the menu's own power button calls my custom script.
